    Links in posts

Why can't one include a working http link in a post in the JaguarPC forums? They are awfully useful when you want to refer someone to a specific site, post, or thread.

The tag thingies are there under the vB Code section, but I'm finding that they get stripped out when one posts, even when the "Automatically parse URLs" option is checked. Is this a forum feature that's been locked down for some reason, or am I missing a setting in my profile somewhere?

    Test

They seem to be working for me. Do you have JavaScript enabled on your browser? You need it to be able to use the buttons. You can also just type out a url into the message box and it will be turned into a link automatically (as long as it begins with www or http://) when someone views the page.

My mistake. They do work, as you say. The default display is just odd, IMHO, in that they look like ordinary text here. Hard to tell that they are links without them being underlined or colored or something. Almost thought that Test link you placed at the top of your post was just text, not a link. Thanks for the help.

Here's my test link, just using the http vb Code:

    AletiaForums

It looks like plain text, rather than a link to me. It does appear as a link when one moves a cursor over it. It just isn't very apparent to the casual reader.

Here's the same one, only with blue and underlined vB Code attributes, something I'd prefer to see happen by default:

    AletiaForums

For some reason that displays just like the other one for me (not true for me in the AletiaForums). I suspect it may be a result of the custom forum display colors used at JaguarPC.

Only reason I'm over here is as an Aletia refugee, checking out how things work here. I'll be glad when they finally merge the two forums.

That's what I thought your concern may have been. Its a stylesheet issue over here that I haven't cared for since they launched this forum. I agree that it is very dificult to distinguish what a link is.

Ah, I see. My examination of the source html that produces this page confirms your assessment as well. Thanks. At least now I know it wasn't some configuration setting I had missed.
