SMTP and POP are rejecting my passwords.
SSH is up, but refuses me entry, too.

    ack.

Best I can tell it went down completely at about 3:40AM server time, about 45 minutes ago.

Same here, SSH answers to connections but refuses my login/password. All services are down.

Strangely secure CPanel (:2083) returns 404, but secure WHM (:2087) just rejects the PW.

I wonder if the server has been hacked.

You will find 9/10 that it will stay that way until they have fixed it and then come back with some [email protected] excuse. Ive seen it many many times before, believe me! I have had my status on assigned for 10 hours+ and then low and behold problem fixed and within 2 mins i have a reply!

You havent seen nothing yet, we have been having 30-40% downtime for the past 2 months, they even moved us all too a new server and still the problems persist!

I've seen the problems others had. Some servers died and many people lost data due to bad backups.

I guess the same happened here.

I believe we are looking at a dead harddrive, because the main operating system is working, while any access to our personal data is gone.

Right, it can't write to the logs... the disk is prolly in read-only mode.

I saw this happen in the /home partition, it was right before the disk was deemd corrupted beyond repair. I hope that's not the case here.
