    That was photoshop

    That was done with Photoshop using a stock photo that shipped with the program. To think people say that nothing good is bundled with programs So you can see where it came from, this is the original picture

    My version was done by the tiling and blending of layers plus a lot of color pushing to achieve the magical effect. I was going for a bizarre and surreal magical world were reality and perception were not the same. The same technique was used for the Brazill graphic http://www.sillypages.com/sps/gallery/gallery0019.shtml

    I did it as big as the base graphic allowed me to do it. Making it bigger requires resizing it, which as you know degrades the quality of the picture. Here is a version on the dimensions that you wanted, hopefully it will do for you; http://216.118.112.104/images/fairyforest2.jpg . Because it is photo-based adding a tree is a bit more complicated than jus re-rendering it :}

    For 3D renders I use Bryce 5 and a little bit of poser, with post work done in Photoshop. I wish I could afford 3D studio Max, and I haven't been able to convince my employer that I really really really need it for the simple web graphics that I do at work
