Never mind, I found the path
    /usr/local/netpbm/bin

But now I've sumbled upon another problem. I need to chmod my .htaccess file to 777 but the file is invisible. How can I make it show up?

Okay, I found it. I used the -a command and it worked. Everything successfully installed, but now one last problem. I can't login. I know the default username is admin, and when I typed in my password and clicked login, nothing happens. I doubt it, but there is a chance I typed in a wrong password when installing, so is there a file where I can retrieve my password?

Ok, thanks. Everything is installed correctly now. But I still have one problem. When I upload pictures, it either says:

    "invalid filename"
    or
    "could not create thumbnail name.jpg!

I can't seem to upload any pictures. I did a search on aletiaforums saying that netpbm needs to be upgraded to 2.20 instead of 2.19 or something. Someone said he installed NetPBM in a separate folder and pointed to that as his path. Should I do the same? Or is there an easier way?

Thank you very much; I'll try that. My machine name is Puma by the way.

I had the same problem after installing the script. It would say, "Cannot create thumbnail image.." blah blah.. I emailed support and this was the reply I got:

    _____
There was a bug in the script you had, where it was trying to set the quality of the image. I removed that code and it seems to be working fine now.
    _____

Doesn't exactly help the situation considernig we don't know what code had to be removed :-\

That's new to me - What is Gallery?

Is it some sort of on-line graphic software?

I am guessing (and only guessing!) that it might be an issue with the server? I have installed this gallery script on other websites before without a hitch as well.

I'm having the same problem..cannot upload

I'm quite new at this. I have very little HTML knowledge and no prior experience with PHP and web building. So your tolerance is appreciated.
My machine name is hamster.nocdns.com so I'm assuming this is my server.

Upon lots of reading the forum. I finally got gallery running. I got this error message when I tried to upload my images.
    ------------------------------------
    Processing status...
    - Adding pic0001.jpg
Error: Unable to make thumbnail (0)!
    ------------------------------------

I hope this is the same issue the you folks are talking about. If yes then I need your suggestion. Should I:
1.) create a new NetPBM on my account as Clio suggested or
2.) do what Lele did. Send this problem to support and let them fix it for me. It sounds like it can only be fix on a code level (and I'm not even going to attempt doing that).
