PLEASE HELP! I deleted my public_html directory!

I accidentally deleted my public_html directory and lost all my website data.

I have emailed aletia, but no replies.

I am on machine : Puma
    My username is : msimmons
    My domain is : michael-simmons.net

I need an Aletia staff member to restore my website from last nights backup (April 6).

    Please help me!

Did you actually download the April 6th backup?

The best you can do is download your backup... Tell us if your backup has the information you need.

How do I do that! I clicked on the "Instant Backup", and I just got a backup with nothing on it.

Obviously, as there is nothing there NOW. The backup you made YESTERDAY would be nice.

The problem is I have exactly NO backups of my website whatsoever.

I need aletia's backup from last night.

Something I will never understand... I don't have to make daily backups of my site simply because the whole thing is designed and built on my local PC and then FTPed onto the server. If I lose my data from the server, no worries, it's still on my computer at home. (Now, if I lost my MySQL databases, I'd be up a creek. )

I hope you can get the data you need!

I'm not sure if Aletia does nightly backups, but I hope they do, for your sake. If anything, this will be a lesson to always back up your site yourself... good luck!

How come no Aletia staff is answering my emails or this thread. I worked really hard on this site, and I hate to see it all wasted.

The issue is when databases are involved, e.g. from forums etc. As far as I know, the CPanel backs up the entire user home directory only (no databases).

I tried getting those backups from the CPanel, but those didn't work.

You have to do the backups before you delete your website... other wise no... they will backup just that NOTHING

And on top of it all, it is not aletias responsibility to back up YOUR site, is it?

You should back up daily if you have a busy site, other wise weekly should do fine.

    Good Luck

For example, the today backup is: http://www.yourdomain.com:2082/getba...-7-2002.tar.gz

    Try to download:

    http://www.yourdomain.com:2082/getba...-6-2002.tar.gz or http://www.yourdomain.com:2082/getba...-5-2002.tar.gz

Er, I'm afraid not. CPanel doesn't work that way. The filename doesn't matter, it dynamicly tars and gzips your most recent files. That's why a gzip process runs on the server every time a backup is downloaded. Go to http://www.yourdomain.com:2082/getba...nything.tar.gz and it will download your files from the instant it was accessed
