    Potential Customers...Read My Story

Below is my story how i stumbled upon Atelia and my experience with it. I hope this information will be valuable to anyone thinking of signing up.

I would say I am fairly mid-level to Hosting a Website, but I started a long time ago with one on Geocities and then moved on to HostRocket. It was a steep learning curve but i learned enough on how to set one up.

My friend recommend Aletia, said it was cheap and he's had no problems, and can host multiple domains. So I signed up on Sunday. PaySystems took my money and then i filled out the rest of the info for Aletia. I never recieved a setup email from Atelia.

Since then I've been emailing them about 3-4 times a day, sometime thru the support tickets, somtimes directly to Mark or Laura, so that they'd set my acount up. A WHOIS search showed they never registered my domain name i requested. 3 times I've gotten an email back apologizing and asking for more info and saying they'd fix it right away. I never heard from them again.

So now today (Day Six) I began the process of canceling. I emailed PaySystems and Aletia telling them I am cancelling and asking for a refund. I have recieved no response from either.

Someone on these forums suggested another host, i don't want to advertise, so i won't mention it, but if you wanna know, email me in my profile. Today i signed up with them.

The other host sent me an email with 5 mintues of signing up with all the info to login. I checked Register.com and the address i asked for was already taken, and registered to me thru them. As i speak, less then 20 minutes after signing up, I am ftp'ing my entire site over. In 72 hours when the name resolves I will be styling.

I am guessing there will be some posts after this from faithfull "senior member" customers. They may say they've never had this happen to them and that I must be doing something wrong. Trust me, i've taken every bit of advice and tried.

In summary, I am recomending that you do not sign up for Aletia. Thanks for your time.

Yup, you'll get posts from senior members; here's one, for example. But it's not the kind you might expect.

I've always believed that people need to take the responsibility to ensure that their needs are being met. The most extreme method in this case, of course, is leaving Aletia. I'm sorry that your time here was so unpleasant, indeed without ever having a site. But I think you've made the right decision for yourself, and I don't think that anyone can fault you for that.

I hope that your new host continues to perform as well as your first experience indicates. Best wishes, and good luck resolving the dangling threads with Aletia.
