    Best I've found

    Have a look at http://www.oscommerce.com - it's the best I've found - relatively easy to customise, uses php & mysql so easy to import databases from excel, access etc. Has multi-currency etc.

    I've loaded this on about 10 sites now so if you need any assistance just email me.

    Have you seen interchange, an open source solution from RedHat? It really looks packed with features but may be a bit more complicated than oscommerce. Apparently interchange was offered here at one time but they had problems with their panel and resources so they don't have any shopping carts in the cpanel. I downloaded interchange and untarred and tried a ./configure but there are still some problems HERE which require tech intervention. Did you require any system changes here for oscommerce to configure and work. I checked some of the demos and it looks good. I may try it. Contact me if you had any particular problems which I should know about.. Thanks

    Interchange vs Oscommerce

    Hank
    I tried Interchange but it was unstable and importing database records was a long error ridden process. Interchange doesn't store credit cards on a database - it requires secure email which can be a pain. The language and currency options in Oscommerce are easier to use aswell. The only 3 features it had that aren't standard in Oscommerce were:

    1 - Featured Items - you can't choose which products are Featured - but there are ways around that anyway
    2 -Thumbnails - Oscommerce doesn't support thumbnails & large images for a product - but there is a piece of code I've used that overcomes that. It requires that you use a naming convention such as:
    Large = filename.jpg
    Small = filename-s.jpg - then the coding I have uses the large image for the actual product display and the thumbnail everywhere else
    3 -Affiliates - Interchange supposedly includes ana ffiliate reporting system - which I could never get to work, but you can do a few mods to Oscommerce to track affiliate orders and then manage reporting separately

    TIPS
    1 - Document any mods you do to Oscommerce, that way you can replicate them when you upgrade to a later version in the future

    2 - Files in Oscommerce you modify are the Stylesheets and anything in catalog/includes or admin/includes

    oscommerce

    I'm sold. I visited their site and was sufficiently impressed. I had downloaded interchange and partially installed it before seeing your post and just dropped it for oscommerce. The live demos were terrific. Up to now I have not used a shopping cart per se. I have separate order pages with links to secure ordering and separate pages for every item. It is a bit of a pain but permits me to submit every page separately which has been an advantage. (http://blackhillsg0ld.com/) Unfortunately when ns17 crashed so did my modifications for the last three months since I was not at the time responsible enough to do the tar backups as I worked. So I'm started anew with oscommerce. I just have a small problem, which I wrote you privately about and I'm sure I'll probably have the configuration done soon and will start the heavy task of entering items from my wife's Black Hills jewelry catalog. Since I'm now on social security the income I do derive from this helps to play for my toys and I need a new computer [g]...

    Thanks for your help. It is much appreciated.

    Your information seem so intersting. Once I was trying to install a shopping cart for my friend website, but I didn't accompish the task. I don't know the procedure clearly to get a shopping cart running just like other website. It is be able to get payment over customer credit card and some other stuffs. Could you help me to do it from A to Z? I am greatly appreciated for you time and help.

    By the way, you can check my other post, which posted here long ago http://www.jaguarpc.net/support/foru...=&threadid=343
