    plutonium site hacked

    Hi,

The server seems to have been hacked. We will be taking it down offline for some time soon.
For now, what you need to do is to reload your main page.I have changed the ownership of your files back to your name

The hacker has done nothing more than just replaced and added into every user's public_html, the following files:

    default.htm, default.html, default.php
    index.htm, index.php, index.html
    main.htm, main.html, main.php

Just delete this files and reinstall your main page, thats the only one that has been changed.

    site hacked

My site - hosted on aletia/jaguar, was hacked this morning. A single text file was copied to index.html, home.html, default.html, main.html, home.php, default.php, main.php and perhaps a couple other files.

Restoring the site was easy, and luckily EasyMonitor alerted me to the problem within minutes.

You might want to check your sites !!!

(I'd post the text but I don't hang here so I don't know what is acceptable. There is some mild (by my standards) profanity.

It did end with "Greetings from Malaysia"

    Same here

The additional files had my own UID and GID.

I have at least identified these files as being effected.

    bash-2.05a$ grep Iraqis *
default.htm:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"
default.html:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"
default.php:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"
home.htm:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"
home.html:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"
home.php:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"
index.htm:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"
index.html:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"
index.php:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"
main.htm:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"
main.html:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"
main.php:"Cream your khakis, not the Iraqis!"

Read the files that Big listed, delete all of those. Get a backup of your homepage and upload it. I always leave an index.old everytime I update my site so all I had to do was delete the files and rename index.old -> index.htm
